Staff Solutions UK Ltd is currently recruiting for an experienced Van Driver with a Forklift Licence on behalf of our client based in Barking, Essex.
This position is offered on a temp perm basis meaning you would work through us for the first 12 weeks and then be taken on permanently by our client.
Please note that this position starts at 03.00am each day. You can expect to work for around 8 hours per shift, Sunday Friday, 6 nights. This would be 48 hours per week.
You will be driving a long wheelbase van and making deliveries to companies based in London & Kent. You would need to be flexible with regards to working times as you will be required to cover other drivers off on holiday or sickness.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a 3.5 tonne long wheelbase van for deliveries across London.
Load and unload vehicle and keep it clean and tidy.
Provide cover for other drivers during holidays and sickness
Learn and maintain all current delivery routes.
Support the Transport Manager with daily transport operations.
Use basic computer skills for logging deliveries and updating schedules
Ensure vehicle safety and report maintenance issues promptly.
Requirements:
Proven experience driving a long wheelbase van in London.
Excellent knowledge of Londons roads and traffic patterns.
Basis computer literacy (e.g email, spreadsheets, route planning tools)
Flexible and willing to start as early as 02.30am
Strong communication skills and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules.
Forklift Licence

Previous experience in a transport or logistics environment.
Familiarity with transport management systems.

You will receive full training for this role and will be paired with an experienced employee to begin with.
Please note that you must not have more than 6 points on your licence and we cannot accept applications from anyone who\’s licence is endorsed with DR codes or IN10.
Due to the start time we would prefer candidates to have their own transport or live locally.
The rate of pay for this role is £15.50 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay. Once you become permanent with the company the annual salary will be £34,095.
