We are currently recruiting for an experienced Centre Lathe Turner to join a well-established engineering business based in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled machinist with experience in conventional (non-CNC) machining.
The Role
You will be responsible for manufacturing carbon and stainless-steel flanges using conventional lathes, working to engineering drawings and ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Face, edge, and bore profiled carbon steel blanks
- Set and operate conventional centre lathes independently
- Select and set appropriate feeds and speeds for each job
- Work to tolerances of up to ±1mm
- Maintain high levels of quality and efficiency with minimal supervision
Additional Responsibilities – Radial Drill Operation
- Set and operate radial drills (3’ to 10’ capacity)
- Accurately set Pitch Circle Diameters (PCD) using a rotary table
- Independently select feeds and speeds for drilling operations
- Ensure precision and consistency across all work

- Proven experience operating conventional centre lathes (essential)
- Experience with radial drilling machines
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Able to read and work from engineering drawings
