Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Multi Skilled) Location: Paddock Wood, Kent Contract: Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week (Two-shift pattern: 6am–2pm & 2pm–10pm) Reporting to: Engineering Manager About Us We are a successful and growing manufacturer of hop products, proudly owned by a longstanding family business. As our operations expand, we are looking for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our experienced and supportive team, playing a vital role in maintaining and improving our diverse production processes and facilities. Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for a practical, hands-on engineer with a strong electrical bias (ideally 60/40 electrical-mechanical) who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You should be self-motivated, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and committed to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities * Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site facilities * Support installation and commissioning of new machinery * Work closely with production teams to reduce downtime and optimise performance * Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation faults * Ensure compliance with safe working practices and contribute to site safety systems * Liaise with suppliers and contractors as needed Essential Requirements * Engineering qualification (e.g., Apprenticeship, HNC, ONC or equivalent) * Proven experience in a manufacturing/production environment * Strong electrical and mechanical skills * Able to work a two-shift system (early/late), with occasional weekend work (paid at overtime rates) * Familiarity with permit-to-work systems; IOSH certification desirable Desirable Skills and Experience Experience in any of the following areas will be a significant advantage: * Pumps (vacuum, diaphragm, centrifugal) * Motors, inverters, and drives * Steam and condensate systems * Industrial pipework (water, steam, compressed air, chemicals) * Pneumatics and compressed air systems * Reverse osmosis and demineralisation systems * Instrumentation (pH control, batch controllers, load cells) * Pressure systems and associated regulations * Working in food-grade environments and knowledge of HACCP * Computer literacy (Outlook, Excel, Word) What We Offer We value our team and offer a competitive, well-rounded benefits package, including: * Competitive salary * Outstanding company pension * Bupa Private Health Insurance * Bupa Wellness Cash Plan * MyBenefits flexible benefits platform * 25 days holiday per year * Performance-related bonus * Free on-site parking
