Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 plus 10% Shift Allowance

Hours: 40 hours per week (Site Based)

Shift Pattern: Rotating Shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm / 2:00pm–10:00pm

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing and production environment in Cleckheaton. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and supporting continuous improvement projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum equipment reliability, minimising downtime, supporting production operations, and assisting with the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems.
  • Support installation, commissioning and integration of new production and packaging machinery.
  • Carry out machine refurbishments, upgrades and modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime and restore operations safely.
  • Deliver TPM activities and continuous improvement initiatives across production areas.
  • Support engineering projects including machinery layout improvements and process optimisation.
  • Maintain boilers, compressors, chillers, pumps and other site plant equipment.
  • Ensure all engineering works are completed in line with health & safety standards and permit systems.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, maintenance records and compliance checks.
  • Liaise effectively with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to support operational targets.
  • Supervise contractors and ensure all external works are completed safely and to required standards.
  • Provide occasional out-of-hours engineering support when required.
Requirements
  • Time-served Maintenance Engineer or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background within manufacturing, FMCG or production environments.
  • Experience fault-finding on automated production machinery and control systems.
  • Good understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working on plant equipment including boilers, compressors and chillers.
  • Previous involvement in machinery installation, upgrades and commissioning projects.
  • Knowledge of TPM and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Flexible, proactive and safety conscious approach to engineering activities.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with mixing vessels and process equipment.
  • Experience working on filling, labelling, packaging or tube filling machinery.
  • FMCG, cosmetics, food or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
