We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineering Team Leader to oversee our engineering projects and lead a dynamic team of engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and exceptional leadership skills, enabling them to drive innovation and ensure the successful execution of engineering designs. This role requires a hands-on approach, with a focus on system design, firmware development, and the utilisation of various technologies.
Duties
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers in the design and development of electrical systems.
- Oversee the creation and review of schematics, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage projects involving ARM architecture, logic controllers, and surface mount technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate firmware solutions using C++.
- Conduct system design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
- Facilitate training sessions for team members on new technologies and methodologies.
Experience
- Proven experience in electrical engineering or a related field, with a strong understanding of system design principles.
- Proficiency in reading and creating schematics, as well as hands-on experience with soldering components.
- Work closely with estimators to prepare accurate project cost estimates and schedules.
- Develop and review CAD designs for electrical LV switchgear ensuring all designs meet regulatory and safety requirements.
- Liaise with clients and other stakeholders ensuring all expectations are met or exceeded.
- Experience with surface mount technology (SMT) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of MicroStation for design purposes is advantageous.
- Strong programming skills in C++ for firmware development are required.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.
Key Requirements
- HND in an electrical discipline essential. Bachelors Degree preferred but not essential.
- 5 years + experience in electrical engineering, switchgear and electrical control system design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP SEE Electrical or similar).
- Project management certification is an advantage.
