We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Café Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day running of our busy café. You will lead by example, ensuring excellent customer service, high food hygiene standards, and an efficient operation. The role includes supervising the café team, managing stock ordering, and supporting the overall success of the business. Due to our rural location and limited public transport, applicants must have a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and supervise café staff during daily operations.
  • Allocate duties and ensure efficient staffing throughout each shift.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer queries or complaints professionally.
  • Train, coach and support team members to maintain high standards.
  • Manage stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and monitor deliveries.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and minimise waste.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and food quality.
  • Support cash handling procedures and end-of-day reconciliation where required.
  • Assist with rotas, staff holidays and shift planning.
  • Work closely with management to improve café performance and achieve sales targets.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within hospitality, catering or retail.
  • Experience of stock ordering and stock control.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Desirable

  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Experience with staff training and performance management.
