To manufacture, repair, and rebuild heavy-duty earthmoving buckets and attachments, ensuring high-quality welding and fabrication standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out MIG welding using 1.2mm bare wire
  • Perform multi-run fillet welding on plate thicknesses (6mm-200mm)
  • Fabricate, repair, and rebuild heavy plant attachments
  • Use oxy-fuel equipment for burning, gouging, and chamfering
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment
  • Work with overhead cranes (if trained)
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Maintain high health & safety standards
  • Complete work to tight tolerances and quality requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Time-served Welder/Fabricator or equivalent experience
  • Around 2 years fabrication/welding experience (preferred)
  • Ability to weld and fabricate independently
  • Experience in heavy plant or similar industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of welding processes
  • Good attention to detail and quality

Desirable Requirements

  • Overhead crane experience/certification
  • Forklift licence
  • Experience with earthmoving equipment or attachments (Training can be provided for some areas)

Working Hours

  • Day Shift: Mon-Thurs: 07:30 - 16:30, Fri: 07:00 - 12:00
  • Night Shift: Mon-Wed: 21:00 - 07:30, Thurs: 20:30 - 07:00
  • Overtime: Weekends and additional hours available

Pay & Benefits

  • Pay Rate: Days: £15.22 per hour, Nights: £17.22 per hour
  • Overtime: On-site parking

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to commute to or relocate to Sunderland (SR4)
  • Weld test required as part of the selection process
