Painters are responsible for delivering high-quality decorative finishes across residential and/or commercial sites. This includes preparing surfaces, matching colours, applying paints and finishes, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the clients' specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients to understand requirements and ensure all work meets agreed specifications.
- Measure work areas accurately to estimate time, materials, and resources required.
- Prepare surrounding areas by protecting fixtures, furniture, and floors to prevent damage or mess.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including removing old finishes, filling holes and cracks, sanding, and washing surfaces.
- Select and use the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for each job.
- Mix and match paints and finishes to achieve the required colour, texture, and appearance.
- Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and other decorative finishes to walls, ceilings, furniture, and other surfaces.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail throughout the project.
- Clean, maintain, and store tools and equipment, and restore the work area on completion, including replacing fixtures and rearranging furniture.
- Collaborate with other painters on larger or more complex projects.
- Work alongside other trades such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers when required to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and site regulations at all times.
