Are you immediately available and ready to take on a new challenge? Do you have previous NHS GP experience and confidence using SystmOne or EMIS? We are currently working with a friendly and well-regarded GP practice in Gateshead and the surrounding areas, who are seeking a Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join their team on an ongoing temporary basis. There is strong potential for this role to become permanent following a successful trial period.
About the Role
This is a fast-paced position suited to someone who can hit the ground running. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while delivering excellent service to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Managing appointment bookings and maintaining an efficient diary system
- Handling incoming calls, emails, and enquiries, directing them appropriately
- Maintaining accurate patient records while ensuring confidentiality
- Processing registrations, forms, and payments
- Supporting general administrative duties including filing, scanning, and data entry
- Working closely with clinical staff to support patient flow
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist or within a GP surgery
- Strong working knowledge of SystmOne
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- High level of organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment
- Proficiency with office systems and electronic health records
