Job Summary: The Endoscopy Technician performs competent inspection and reprocessing of all reusable department supplies, instruments, and equipment in accordance with organization policy and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates disinfection principles to correctly leak test, manually clean, validate cleaning, and disinfect all reusable endoscopy supplies, instruments, and equipment in strict accordance with organization policy and procedure.
- Inspects supplies, instruments, and equipment for cleanliness and functionality.
- Operates Automated Endoscopic Reprocessors (AER) and other reprocessing equipment according to organization policy and procedure and demonstrates accurate documentation of process, tracking, and logs as required.
- Demonstrates infection control practices with personal protective equipment, hand washing, aseptic techniques, and disinfection of all instruments and equipment according to organization policy and procedure.
- Monitors channel check process on specialty scopes to ensure appropriate pre-cleaning and reprocessing is occurring for patient safety.
- Promotes organizational behavioral-based expectations and supports efforts to exceed key performance indicator goals while providing quality patient care that demonstrates stewardship and management of valuable organization and human resources.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (required).
Required Licensing & Certifications: BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred).
Experience: Six months of previous endoscope reprocessing experience (preferred).
