About the Role

Staff 2000 Recruitment is seeking experienced and reliable Agency Chefs to work on an ad-hoc basis within nursing homes across Bournemouth and Southampton. This is a flexible opportunity ideal for chefs who are looking to pick up shifts around their availability while making a real difference in care settings. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to residents, including those with specific dietary and medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals in line with residents’ dietary requirements (including soft diets, allergies, and cultural needs)
  • Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard and served on time
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Follow all food hygiene, health & safety, and infection control procedures
  • Manage stock, rotation, and kitchen organisation
  • Work independently and adapt quickly to different kitchen environments
  • Communicate effectively with care staff regarding residents’ needs

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Chef within a nursing home or care home setting
  • Valid Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain one)
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum)
  • Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
  • Good understanding of dietary requirements in care settings
  • Two professional references required
  • Reliable, flexible, and professional at all times
