Role Overview

The Commercial Business Partner (Sales) plays a key role in supporting and coordinating bid and tender activities, working closely with the Senior Sales Manager to develop compliant, competitive, and commercially robust submissions. The role combines strong bid execution capability with commercial insight, ensuring that risks are identified, contract positions are aligned, and proposals support profitable delivery. Working closely with UK commercial, bid, and legal teams, the role ensures alignment on strategy, governance, and risk throughout the bid lifecycle. This role is ideal for a commercially focused individual with sales experience and a strong understanding of contract frameworks, who thrives on being hands-on, building relationships, and securing new business opportunities. You’ll combine your understanding of sales and commercial contracts with strong business acumen, working closely with colleagues to shape deals, unlock opportunities, and secure new contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate the preparation of bid and tender submissions, ensuring alignment with tender requirements, internal governance, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with UK commercial, bid, and legal teams to agree commercial approach, including assumptions, risk positions, and governance requirements.
  • Support the Senior Sales Manager with bid governance, reviews, and internal approval processes.
  • Review proposed contract terms and coordinate with relevant internal teams to agree positions and escalation of key risks.
  • Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities within bids and early-stage opportunities.
  • Ensure internal alignment on non-negotiable positions on commercial submissions.
  • Assist the Senior Sales Manager with the development of overall commercial strategy.
  • Build strong relationships across Sales, Commercial, Bid, Finance, and Legal teams.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in bid and/or sales environment (essential).
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts (essential).
  • Ability to support opportunity development leading to successful bids.
  • Strong stakeholder management across multi-functional teams.
  • Commercially minded with strong analytical and financial awareness.

Skills and Qualifications

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience.
