We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Operations Lead to lead the safe, efficient and compliant operation of our facilities, grounds, sports pitches, buildings and community sites.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring our facilities remain safe, well-maintained and fit for purpose, supporting the delivery of a wide range of community programmes, sporting activities and events.

You will oversee facilities management, health and safety compliance, contractor management, asset maintenance and operational planning while promoting a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe, efficient and compliant operation of facilities, buildings, grounds, sports pitches and community sites.
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure facilities remain fit for purpose.
  • Oversee health and safety compliance, including risk assessments, inspections and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain asset registers, compliance records and maintenance schedules.
  • Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Support the planning and delivery of community programmes, events and activities.
  • Ensure facilities are prepared and operationally ready for all users and events.
  • Monitor utilities, waste management and resource usage, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Supervise and support facilities staff and volunteers.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, community partners, contractors and external agencies.
  • Provide advice and guidance on facilities management, maintenance and health and safety matters.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of facilities, operations and sustainability initiatives.

Essential Criteria

  • Level 3 qualification (or above) in Facilities Management, Health & Safety, Building Services or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or willingness to achieve within six months of appointment).
  • First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Minimum three years' experience in facilities, operations or estates management.
  • Experience managing maintenance programmes, contractors and operational delivery.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing health and safety procedures.
  • Strong organisational, communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Desirable Criteria

  • Level 4 or Level 5 Diploma in Facilities Management.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent advanced health and safety qualification.
  • Fire Safety Management qualification.
  • CSCS Card or experience within construction/building management environments.
  • Experience within the charity, sports, leisure or community sector.
  • Knowledge of sports facility maintenance and pitch care.
  • Full UK driving licence.
