Join a leading UK building society as a Base24 Lead Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining ATM/POS software solutions, leading technical teams, and ensuring all systems comply with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Base24 applications (Classic/EPS) for ATM/POS systems.
  • Lead the migration from Base24 Classic to EPS, incorporating VISA scheme enhancements and regulatory updates.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to translate requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and resolve service incidents to maintain system integrity.
  • Ensure system resilience, sustainability, and recovery capabilities.
  • Serve as an SME in ATM/POS technology, EMV, card schemes (Visa/LINK), and transaction switching.
  • Mentor and guide onshore/offshore Base24 Engineers and lead internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Utilise tools such as TAL, COBOL, S-COBOL, HP NonStop (Pathway, Enscribe, TMF), VersaTest, and XPNET.

Skills, Experience and Abilities Required

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Base24 architecture, HP NonStop platforms, and programming languages (TAL, COBOL). Experience with EMS, Batchcom, Enform, ACI Desktop, and security frameworks. Knowledge of VISA/LINK interfaces, EMV, and transaction testing tools (Iliad, Paragon).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Desirable Skills: Prior experience in Base24 Classic-to-EPS migration. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, source control (RMS), and payments domain expertise.

Additional Information

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite in Swindon). You will need the ability to collaborate closely with client leadership and address escalated deliverables as required.
