Job Description
We are seeking a Project Manager / Scrum master to work closely with one of our engineering teams, supporting the team's management and successful delivery of both client and internal R&D projects.
Alongside facilitating Agile delivery processes, a key responsibility of this role is maintaining visibility of project scope, effort expenditure, and budget position, ensuring delivery risks are identified early and communicated effectively to clients and stakeholders.
The desired candidate will have an interest in software development combined with strong organisational and communication skills and a desire to learn new skills and methodologies.
While this role is ideally based on-site in Bristol, we are open to hybrid working arrangements for candidates based in the UK, Poland, or France who demonstrate exceptional skills and significant industry experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Manage end-to-end delivery of IT projects, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Monitor project scope, effort expenditure, budget position, and delivery milestones, identifying risks and potential overruns at an early stage.
- Support internal R&D and Product goals and backlog refinement.
- Ensure clear communication of project plans, goals, expectations, and progress.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
- Client Support
- Assist with triage activities for client requests for Stack HPC support.
- Ensure that client support requests are tracked and followed up within the team's work cycles.
- Manage the ongoing relationship with Support Customers and lead regular Support Reviews
- Facilitate team planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Guide the team on Agile/Scrum/Kanban principles to enhance productivity and quality.
- Remove impediments and foster a collaborative environment.
- Operations Tooling and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain automation tools used in the workflows of Stack HPC's operations and processes.
- Develop and maintain business reports to provide insights to work, productivity, and budget utilisation.
Qualifications
- Core Requirements
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with methodologies like Agile/Scrum, Kanban, Lean or similar delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing project scope, budgets, timelines, and delivery risks.
- Basic understanding of Dev Ops, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud technologies.
- Experience supporting product development or technical delivery.
- Experience managing geographically distributed teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
- Additional Assets
- A degree or equivalent qualification in any discipline.
- Hands‑on experience with modern agile project management tools.
- Interest in data, reporting, and data visualisation.
- Any foundational Agile or Scrum certifications are a plus but not required.
- High-level awareness of or curiosity about high‑performance computing, large‑scale data, or infrastructure‑as‑a‑service concepts.
