Key Responsibilities
- Acts as a business analyst with deep data governance and metadata expertise.
- Lead the design of the programme-wide metadata schema that must scale across all nations.
- Engage with business users, legal teams, and security/export-control specialists to understand how data is classified and what restrictions apply.
- Capture existing metadata requirements from stakeholders and harmonise them into a single structured model.
- Consider and design for GDPR, PII, UK and international government protective markings, export control rules, and the EU AI Act.
- Define controlled vocabularies, taxonomies, and metadata categories needed for compliant data sharing.
- Work closely with Data Custodians and Data Governance Deputy to ensure metadata and policy frameworks align.
- Experience with metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
- Knowledge of data modeling and enterprise architecture principles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) for metadata integration.
