To provide support to our established care team to provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, promoting dignity, independence, privacy, and wellbeing at all times within a residential care home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assist residents with daily living activities including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Support residents with mobility, transfers, and use of mobility aids. Assist with eating and drinking where required while encouraging independence.
- Health & Wellbeing: Monitor residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing and report any concerns to senior staff. Support residents with medication administration (where trained and authorised). Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
- Emotional & Social Support: Build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues. Encourage participation in social activities and community engagement. Provide companionship and emotional reassurance.
- Daily Living Support: Assist residents with meal preparation and serving meals. Support housekeeping tasks such as maintaining clean and safe living environments. Promote choice, independence, and respect for residents’ preferences.
- Safeguarding & Safety: Follow safeguarding procedures to protect vulnerable adults. Adhere to health and safety policies, infection control, and moving & handling procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies.
Skills & Experience
- Essential: Caring and compassionate nature. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Reliable and flexible approach to shift work. Basic literacy and record-keeping skills.
- Desirable: Previous experience in a care setting. NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards). Knowledge of dementia care.
