The Role
We are looking for a Finance Officer - Accounts Payable & Receivable to join our Finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, supporting both expenditure and income processes across the Society. This position would suit someone with experience in accounts payable and receivable who is looking for a new challenge in a busy, fast-paced environment, or a recent business graduate seeking their first role within a supportive finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in line with internal controls
- Prepare supplier payment runs and reconcile supplier statements
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and resolve queries promptly
- Record and allocate income, including donations and other national income streams
- Raise, review and issue sales invoices and monitor outstanding debts
- Process expenses, petty cash and credit card expenditure
- Reconcile bank accounts daily and investigate discrepancies
- Support Gift Aid processes and ensure funds are allocated appropriately
- Monitor transactions for potential irregularities and report concerns
About You
Essential:
- GCSE Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
- Confident communicator, able to work with finance and non-finance colleagues
- Able to work independently and respond to varied queries
Desirable:
- Experience working in the charity or voluntary sector
- At least 1 year's experience in accounts payable and receivable
- A-Level education or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake formal accountancy training
- Understanding of, or alignment with, SVP values and ethos
