We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our Twinning Finance team on a part-time (30 hours per week) basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong financial administration skills who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate records and providing excellent customer service. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that financial commitments are met on time and that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Working closely with the Twinning Officers and Finance team, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing journals from reports for posting into the accounting system.
- Processing cheques received in the office.
- Allocating incoming donations and outgoing payments to the correct internal accounts.
- Reconciling bank statements on a weekly basis for standing orders, BACS payments and cheques.
- Updating standing order instructions with the bank.
- Maintaining Gift Aid declarations and providing information for annual Gift Aid claims.
- Preparing and distributing quarterly communications and financial reports.
- Supporting the production of quarterly reports for National Twinning Committee meetings.
- Setting up overseas payments in multiple currencies through Bankline.
- Liaising with overseas Twinning partners regarding payments and supporting documentation.
- Maintaining accurate payment records using shared spreadsheets and finance systems.
- Responding professionally to Finance enquiries by telephone, email and post.
- Attending annual Twinning Officer meetings, which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of five GCSEs (Grade C/Grade 4 or above), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience working in a busy office environment with a strong focus on accurate data entry.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- The ability to analyse financial information and investigate discrepancies.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Sympathy with the Christian aims and purposes of the Society and an ability to work respectfully with people of all faiths and none.
Desirable
- AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent accountancy training).
- Experience working within the charity or voluntary sector.
- Experience of working within a branch-based organisation.
