An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking and caring teaching assistant to join our school and work with a named child with special educational needs and disabilities. St Thomas More Catholic Primary School is an inclusive, diverse and over-subscribed school, serving the community of Eastfield and the St Peter and All Souls Parish. We are proud members of St John the Baptist Catholic Multi-academy Trust. Christian values are at the core of our school and community; however, we welcome applicants from any or no faith background. Responsibilities

  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of SEND (including autism and SEMH needs) and knowledge of how best to support these pupils.
  • Be passionate about ensuring that all children can learn to read.
  • Be adaptable and able to work under pressure.
  • Be open to support and advice.
  • Have high expectations of what all pupils can achieve, no matter their starting point.
  • Be approachable, kind, compassionate and act in accordance with the Catholic ethos and values of the school (we welcome applications from both Catholic and non-Catholic candidates).

Job description and main responsibilities

  • Working with children with SEND and with other professionals to support the teaching and learning of the children.
  • Working with staff across the school to ensure that the children are able to access learning with their peers.
  • Deliver appropriate interventions and specified programmes, under the direction of the teacher, in line with the children’s needs and listed provisions.
  • Liaising with parent/carers of children as appropriate.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties outlined by the Headteacher in line with the role.
