An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking and caring team member to join our school team to support children in this unique role. St Thomas More Catholic Primary School is an inclusive, diverse and over-subscribed school, serving the community of Eastfield and the St Peter and All Souls Parish. We are proud members of St John the Baptist Catholic Multi-Academy Trust. Christian values are at the core of our school and community; however we welcome applicants from any or no faith background. As a school, we are committed to the professional development of all staff through professional learning cycles and to ensuring practical approaches to workload are put in place to support all staff, realised through a Trust-level and school-level wellbeing charter.
Working hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-15:30 (until 16:30 one day per week for professional development), term time only. Attendance may be required for training and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, deliver and oversee interventions (in relation to SALT, reading, writing and maths) to individual pupils or groups in liaison with the school SEND Lead.
- Use evidence-informed strategies and interventions to support pupils in achieving learning goals.
- Assess, record, and report on pupils' progress.
- Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
- Supervise and provide support for pupils with additional needs.
- Organise and manage learning resources.
- Liaise with parents and external professionals when necessary.
- Work closely with teaching staff and contribute to planning.
- Work with teaching assistants to ensure the effective delivery of interventions across the school.
- Work with the SEND Lead to analyse data and ascertain next steps for individual and groups of pupils.
Administrative Support
- Maintain records of pupil progress and contribute to reports.
- Provide feedback to teachers and attend staff meetings as required.
- Run workshops and interventions for parents to support our holistic approach.
Requirements
- Thorough and strong understanding of working with children with additional needs.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a range of professionals.
- Knowledge and understanding of SALT, early reading, early writing and early maths.
- Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based interventions and how these can be used to support disadvantaged children.
