Responsibilities
- Provide care and support to children aged 7‑16 years with autism in a residential setting.
- Contribute to, facilitate and review plans for each child that reflect their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support the development of self‑regulation, confidence and effective communication in pupils.
- Work as part of a team and self‑directed, keeping a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Residential Care to achieve a cohesive, child‑centred approach.
Qualifications
- No prior experience required; full training will be provided.
- Commitment to working with children with autism and to fostering positive relationships.
- Clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

The Hawthorns School opened in January 2023 in Chelmsford and specialises in support for children with autism. The school offers a full‑time education focussed on social communication, emotional regulation and relationship‑building, alongside a broad curriculum. The school is part of the SEAX Trust, which includes several other special schools.
