St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust is seeking an exceptional Governance Officer to join our central team at a pivotal point in our journey. This is not simply a clerking role; we are intentionally building a professional, connected and values-driven function, one that plays a central role in improving outcomes for children and young people across our Trust. We are working to create a cohesive governance community: well-supported, highly effective and united by a shared commitment to service, accountability and improvement.
Governance within our Trust is purposeful and integral to ensuring that every child receives an education they deserve. You will work closely with the Head of Governance and the soon-to-be appointed Governance Manager, forming part of a growing central team that is shaping how governance operates across all our schools. You will provide high-quality clerking, coordination and governance support across Local Governing Boards and panels, ensuring governance is well-organised, compliant and impactful.
Your work will include preparing and clerking meetings, producing clear and accurate minutes, ensuring actions are followed through and providing procedural advice to support effective governance. You will also coordinate governor recruitment, elections and appointments, supporting board development and induction, maintain governance records and statutory compliance, and contribute to strong engagement across our governance community.
Our Mission: Our Trust mission is simple: to make Christ known, making lives better for our communities, our children and young people.
Our Values:
- One of Hope: Inspired by St Teresa of Calcutta, we are people of hope. We have a complete belief in the future we will build together. By offering our children, staff and schools’ opportunities to grow and flourish, we make aspiration and ambition a reality.
- One of Courage: As modelled for us by St Teresa of Calcutta, we will have the courage to do what is right. As a community, we will not shy away from making decisions that ensure our communities thrive.
- One of Innovation: St Teresa of Calcutta changed the world. Together, we will always be pursuing new ideas and best practice in all areas of our work.
We are seeking an individual who:
- Has experience in clerking, governance administration, or a highly organised, detail-focused role.
- You will be able to produce high-quality written work, manage information accurately and work with professionalism and discretion.
- You will have the confidence to provide clear procedural guidance, the resilience to manage competing priorities and the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Above all, you will be motivated by contributing to something purposeful and impactful.
- Experience in an education or governance setting is preferred but not essential.
- You must be able to drive and/or have transport to travel to locations across our family of schools.
We can offer:
- A role within the Trust with a clear moral purpose and strong sense of mission, where governance is valued as a key driver of improvement.
- You will be part of a supportive and ambitious central team, with access to high-quality training and professional development, including governance qualifications.
- Additional benefits include a generous Local Government Pension Scheme and a welcoming working environment.
Commitment to Safeguarding: The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). All appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS check including Children’s barred list check and satisfactory references, including your suitability to work with children.
