As a Golf Club Secretary, you will provide an essential role in managing the operations of the golf club, ensuring a seamless experience for members. Your core skills in customer service and organisation, event coordination and scheduling will support the success of tournaments and activities, making you a key contributor to the overall success of the golf club.
You need to have a proactive, adaptable approach to work and must have excellent communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities and work. After an initial induction period, the successful candidate will take primary responsibility for day-to-day inbox management. Proven experience working with golf management systems (e.g. membership software, competition set up) ideally ClubV1 and experience of Microsoft 365.
This role offers a flexible schedule during the week, with some evening and weekend work required from time to time. You can expect to work 25-30 hours per week. Salary £34-£38k per year (full time equivalent) depending on experience.
Working Relationships: Working directly to support members of the committee, the role also interfaces with our members, the St Andrews Links (Home of Golf), suppliers, other Golf Clubs and associations.
Key Duties:
- Maintain the provision of office services for the golf club including membership details by using existing databases (Club V1).
- Assist with the maintenance of the club’s fixtures and events diary and booking arrangements for competitions.
- Maintain and update member handicaps and away scores and add new member handicaps.
- Assist with set up for club matches and competitions.
- Maintain a system for the processing of applications for membership and systems for keeping accurate records of membership.
- Assist with all membership enquiries including the annual subscription renewals process, payments through Club V1.
- Ensure that financial transactions are processed accurately using Xero and maintain cash receipts and banking arrangements.
- Maintain and update the club website and social media activities.
- Providing a committee support function including attendance at monthly committee meeting, preparing papers and taking minutes.
