We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Back of House Manager to oversee the daily operations of our back-of-house support teams. This hands-on leadership role is essential to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and presentation that define The St. Regis experience. You will manage dish room operations, night cleaning, banquet plating, and food running, while leading a team of kitchen support staff with precision and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen utility operations, ensuring all supplies, equipment and uniforms are available and well maintained.
  • Manage inventory control for china, glassware, silverware and smallwares, monitoring stock levels and inbound materials.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, sanitation and health & safety, ensuring full compliance with food handling and property regulations.
  • Ensure food holding and transport equipment is operational and maintained to required standards.
  • Communicate operational updates and issues effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead, motivate and supervise the kitchen utility team, setting clear performance expectations.
  • Provide coaching, feedback and development support to drive high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive, respectful and collaborative team culture.
  • Manage departmental labour and controllable costs in line with budget expectations.
  • Support seamless service delivery and positive guest experiences by ensuring utility operations run efficiently.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Recruit, train and develop team members, ensuring safe working practices and proper equipment use.
  • Monitor performance, conduct reviews and address employee concerns proactively.
Core Competencies
  • Proven experience leading stewarding or back-of-house teams within luxury hotels or similar environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, food safety and UK compliance standards, with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stewarding operations efficiently, including equipment care, chemical control and waste management.
  • Commercially aware, with experience controlling labour, inventory and operating costs while maintaining exceptional standards.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train, motivate and develop disciplined, high-performing teams.
  • Calm, resilient and solutions-focused, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
