Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy opened in January 1965 as The Blessed John Houghton Catholic School to provide secondary Catholic education. Since then the school has grown in size and reputation and provides an inclusive 11‑16 comprehensive education for girls and boys of all abilities.

About This Role

The role involves teaching and supporting pupil development within a Catholic ethos. The successful candidate will contribute to an environment where children are valued and supported to become confident young adults.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Teaching classes, including planning, recording, assessing and meeting the social and learning needs of individual pupils
  • Maintaining the positive Catholic ethos and core values of the school
  • Fulfilling the professional responsibilities of a teacher and meeting the expectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards

The successful candidate should be able to build effective working relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues and adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils. The role requires satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check, a medical check, evidence of qualifications and verification of the right to work in the UK.
