About This Role
Situated in the beautiful Darley Abbey area on the outskirts of Derby, Saint Benedict is the city’s only Catholic Secondary school. We serve a wonderfully diverse community of students who come from over forty countries around the world and who come from all parts of Derby and beyond. We are most proud of the fact that our rapid improvement in outcomes has been in an inclusive and supportive environment, as Ofsted described ‘a distinctive feature of pupils’ behaviour in this school is their sense of a community and the care that they extend towards one another’. In addition to setting out a clear vision for school improvement we work hard to ensure that every child has their needs fully met by our outstanding SENCO and our Inclusion Team. As a community of professionals we are also highly supportive of one another.
Role Overview
What are we looking for? The specific areas of responsibility will be decided based on the skillset of the successful candidate and the existing team. More generally, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to school self‑evaluation, development, planning and appraisal. There will be the requirement to attend Governor meetings and you will be expected to attend major school events and play a full part in ensuring the efficient day‑to‑day running of the Academy. We are looking for a colleague with the motivation and determination to drive forward school improvement. You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to influence and motivate all members of our school community. You can expect excellent line management, coaching and mentoring from the Headteacher and Deputy Headteachers, and a close and effective working relationship with our existing Assistant Headteachers.
