About the Role

Reports to: Nursery Manager
Salary: £34,703 p.a. (Point 9 on the Support Pay Scale)
Working days: Four day week worked across Monday to Friday with either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday off
Works with: Nursery Manager, Room Leaders, Early Years Educator and Apprentices
Location: On-site at The Rise Nursery at St Peter's School
Line manages: Room Leaders, Early Years Educators and Apprentices
Purpose of the Role
To support the Nursery Manager in delivering high standards of learning, development, and care for children aged six months to three years. The Deputy Manager will assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and fostering a safe, stimulating environment. This role includes leading staff in the absence of the Nursery Manager and maintaining strong partnerships with parents and carers.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership & Curriculum
- Support the Nursery Manager in planning and delivering the EYFS curriculum and Rise Nursery child-centred pedagogical approach
- Ensure high-quality learning experiences and monitor children's progress.
- Act as a key person for a group of children, fostering strong relationships.
- Be the room leader for one room at the Rise Nursery
- Act in role as Nursery Manager on a Friday in their absence
Operational Management & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining Ofsted and ISI compliance and readiness for inspection.
- Oversee daily routines, health and safety, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain accurate records, including safeguarding and progress documentation.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Supervise and support Room Leaders, Early Years Educators and Apprentices
- Contribute to staff appraisals and identify training needs.
- Lead the team in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
- Lead team meetings and staff meetings when required
Parent Partnership & Community Engagement
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding children's development.
- Promote parental involvement in learning activities.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Support the implementation of policies and improvement plans.
- Act on feedback from audits and inspections promptly.
