St Peter’s Collegiate Academy is seeking a caring, energetic and dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join our committed and friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people, supporting their personal development and helping them to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of our students. You will be the first point of contact for everyday student issues—helping to resolve disputes, supporting students who may be struggling, and encouraging positive attitudes and behaviour.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Offering daily support to students, helping with minor disputes, missing property and lesson transitions.
- Supporting Heads of Year and senior staff with behaviour, attendance and pastoral care.
- Assisting with detentions, record-keeping and pastoral administration.
- Liaising with parents and carers, and responding to queries in a timely, professional manner.
- Promoting and modelling the Academy’s Christian values and safeguarding the welfare of all students.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, thrives as part of a team and can demonstrate initiative and empathy. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

- Has experience of supporting children’s learning in a school setting.
- Possesses excellent literacy and numeracy skills and is confident using ICT.
- Demonstrates resilience, adaptability and a positive “can do” attitude.
- Is committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.
