Are you passionate about making a difference every day? Join our Retail team where you play a vital role in supporting patient care across our hospice and local communities. We’re looking for Retail Drivers to help us deliver excellent service, safely transport donations, and maximise vital income through Gift Aid – all while providing a positive experience for our donors and customers.

Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, Distribution Centre, Albourne Road, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, BN6 9ES

Salary: £24,856 – £25,168

Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Contract Type: Permanent

What You’ll Do:

  • Collect and deliver donated goods from homes, shops, and donation points.
  • Safely load, unload, and transport furniture, clothing, and homewares.
  • Support house clearances and assist within the Distribution Centre.
  • Provide outstanding customer and donor service at all times.
  • Encourage and maximise Gift Aid sign‑ups by confidently explaining the scheme.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure vans are clean, fuelled, and roadworthy.
  • Work to scheduled routes to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
  • Handle goods with care to prevent damage and ensure safe storage and disposal.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A full, clean UK driving licence (Category B).
  • Experience driving larger vehicles (e.g. Luton vans up to 3.5t).
  • Strong focus on safety, including road safety and manual handling.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physically fit and able to lift and manoeuvre heavy items.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
