Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, BN8 4ED

Contract Type: Permanent, part‑time

Working Hours: 30 hours per week, worked over 4‑5 days

Our Living Well Centre offers a programme of activities and interventions designed to support patients and carers physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. As a Living Well Assistant, you will play a central role in ensuring the Living Well Centre runs smoothly and that every person feels welcomed, supported, and empowered.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting patients and carers during group activities and individual interventions.
  • Liaising with the multi‑disciplinary team to ensure co‑ordinated, high‑quality care.
  • Working autonomously, where appropriate, to meet individual patient and carer needs.
  • Providing empathetic, clear communication and telephone support.
  • Engaging with our community to raise awareness of the Living Well Centre.
  • Conducting occasional home‑based assessments as needed.
  • Ensuring a warm, inclusive environment for everyone who attends.
  • Providing administrative support including clinical record‑keeping and referral processing.
  • Contributing to service development, projects and audits.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Compassion, emotional resilience and a person‑centred approach.
  • A flexible, proactive and positive attitude.
  • Good organisational, IT and time‑management skills.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car for business use.
  • Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (if not already held).
  • Experience as a Health Care Assistant, Therapy Assistant or similar.
  • Experience supporting people in a group setting.
  • Experience in palliative care, community development or working with volunteers would be an advantage.
