Job Description

St Peter Mancroft Church (SPM), Norwich – Chantry Hall

This is a responsible position working in a busy environment in which you will play an important role in the life of Chantry Hall, which is part of this city centre church.

This post is offered on a zero hours contract basis.

Currently, the hourly rate is £12.60. Annual leave entitlement is 5.6 weeks plus your entitlement to all bank and public holidays.

DBS check required.

The Chantry Hall houses the Parish Office and is situated in Chantry Road, Norwich, NR2 1QZ.

It is the hub of communications and administrative support for the work at St Peter Mancroft. Including support to the Vicar and the clergy team and others associated with worship and events. It also has accommodation which is let for hire to the public, and a car park.

Responsibilities:

·      Ensuring that the Chantry Hall and Chantry Hall car park are well maintained, clean and safe and in accordance with the SPM Health & Safety Policy.

·      Supporting the administrators of the Chantry Hall and Chantry Hall car park. This will include some practical, technical and facilities based tasks.

·      Dealing with routine and minor maintenance tasks.

·      Carrying-out supplementary cleaning.

·      Committed to safeguarding within the Church.

·      Other responsibilities which may become appropriate as the Vicar shall direct

Essential requirements:

·      Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.

·      Practical skills for basic maintenance and cleaning.

·      Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

·      Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·      Flexible and able to adapt to varying work patterns, including evenings/weekends.

Desirable requirements:

·      Previous experience in a similar caretaking, facilities, or cleaning role.

·      Awareness of health & safety and fire safety practices.

·      Basic record-keeping or reporting skills.

Additional Information:

·      This role may involve some physical work, including lifting and moving furniture.

·      Protective clothing will be provided where necessary.

·      Be in sympathy with our aims and priorities.
