As part of this role, the successful candidate will receive Protective Behaviours Practitioner training, supporting both personal growth and high-quality youth engagement.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Youth Engagement Lead to deliver and support a combination of educational provision, youth and community projects, and one-to-one mentoring with young people. This is a hands-on, senior delivery role where you will:

  • Lead high-quality youth engagement work
  • Model best practice across projects
  • Build trusted relationships with young people, families, schools, and partner organisations

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging sessions using a trauma-informed approach
  • Lead and support youth and community engagement projects
  • Provide targeted one-to-one mentoring to support emotional wellbeing and positive outcomes
  • Embed Protective Behaviours, restorative practice, and trauma-informed principles in all work
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and external partners
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation
  • Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional development
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
  • Be flexible to work occasional evenings or weekends (project dependent)

About You

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years experience in youth engagement, mentoring, community work, or alternative education
  • Experience leading or coordinating youth projects or programmes
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and behaviour support
  • Experience supporting young people with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
  • Willingness to train as a Protective Behaviours Practitioner
  • Confident working independently and as part of a small team
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and reflective practice skills
  • Relevant qualification (Level 3 or above) or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Experience as a Safeguarding Lead or Deputy
  • First Aid or Mental Health First Aid qualification
  • Full driving licence and access to transport
  • Experience in restorative and/or trauma-informed practice
