  • Opening up and securing the building at the start or end of the day, including securing buildings, setting alarms, and monitoring access during and outside school hours as required.
  • Carrying out routine basic maintenance such as minor repairs, painting touch-ups, replacing light bulbs, and reporting larger issues to external contractors or senior staff.
  • Setting up rooms and equipment for lessons, exams, meetings, and events, as well as managing deliveries, moving furniture, and maintaining outdoor areas such as paths, playgrounds, and car parks.
  • Following health and safety procedures, responding promptly to urgent issues, and working collaboratively with school leaders, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with general building maintenance, including basic repairs, painting, minor plumbing tasks, and routine safety checks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning practices and standards, including safe use of cleaning materials, equipment, and relevant health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to manage site security, including locking and unlocking premises, alarm systems, and monitoring access in line with safeguarding requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and respond calmly to urgent issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a respectful and cooperative approach to working with students, staff, families, and visitors.
  • Physical ability to carry out manual tasks such as lifting, moving furniture, working at height with appropriate equipment, and working outdoors in varying weather.
  • Awareness of safeguarding and child protection principles; willingness to undertake required checks and training.
  • Previous experience in a school, educational, or similar community setting is desirable but not essential.
