St Paul’s Waldorf School is looking for an experienced and highly organised SENDCO / SENCO & Inclusion Lead to shape and lead its SEND provision. This is an influential whole-school position offering the opportunity to develop inclusive practice, support colleagues and ensure pupils with additional needs receive the right support to fulfil their potential.

The role

Reporting to the Headteacher, you will take strategic responsibility for the development and delivery of the school’s SEND policy and provision. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing SEND and inclusion across the school
  • Maintaining the SEND register and whole-school provision map
  • Identifying pupils’ needs and coordinating appropriate support
  • Monitoring pupil progress and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions
  • Ensuring provision meets the requirements of EHC Plans and statutory timescales
  • Advising colleagues on adaptive teaching and quality-first teaching approaches
  • Supporting staff with Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycles and pupil profiles
  • Working closely with parents, carers and external professionals
  • Liaising with educational psychologists, SALT, CAMHS, Children’s Services and the local authority
  • Managing, deploying and appraising teaching assistants and SEND staff
  • Analysing assessment data and advising on the effective use of SEND funding
  • Leading staff training and contributing to school improvement planning
  • Supporting compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act and Independent School Standards

About you

You must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • At least two years’ teaching experience
  • A sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • The National Award for SEN Coordination, NPQ for SENCO or a willingness to complete the required qualification within three years
  • Experience of planning and evaluating effective support strategies
  • Strong organisational, communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to use assessment data to inform provision
  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for pupils with SEND

Experience of whole school SEND leadership, delivering staff training or working within Steiner Waldorf education would be advantageous but is not essential.
