Are you looking to give something back to your local community in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care? Are you flexible, warm, a good listener and over 18?
Our Hospice Neighbours service relies on its team of volunteers to make a real difference to people across the West Suffolk and Thetford community. They provide support in a variety of ways – mainly providing companionship/befriending visits – but can also help with things such as taking the dog for a walk, or doing some light gardening.
The role is a varied one; you can offer practical support, be a listening ear, and you may also provide much-needed support for family and carers. Hospice Neighbours respond to and provide what the person needs, rather than prescribing a particular way of doing things.
Once you have been trained and are ready to make a difference you’ll be matched to a patient in your area, however as a responsive service to meet current demand, there may be times when you are between matches.
We are currently seeking new Hospice Neighbour volunteers across the whole of West Suffolk and Thetford and are especially needing support in the Brandon and Mildenhall areas.
