Are you a confident and compassionate people professional who wants your work to make a real difference?

At St Nicholas Hospice Care, you'll use your HR experience to help the colleagues who make our care possible. We're looking for a proactive, people-centred adviser to join our welcoming People Team and help create a positive workplace where everyone feels valued and able to thrive.

About the role

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. Working closely with managers and colleagues across the organisation, you'll provide practical guidance across the employee lifecycle, helping managers handle employee matters confidently, fairly and consistently.

You'll coordinate recruitment and onboarding, advise managers on employee relations matters, contribute to wellbeing and learning initiatives, help improve our people services and play an active role in people projects. The role also includes line management responsibility for our People Administrator.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who is warm, credible and solutions-focused, with the confidence to build strong relationships and provide practical advice to managers and colleagues.

You'll ideally have:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards it), or equivalent experience.
  • Experience providing HR advice to managers.
  • Experience handling a range of employee relations matters.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to balance competing priorities and work independently.
  • A practical, proactive approach and a genuine passion for helping people.

Every role at St Nicholas Hospice Care contributes to supporting people facing dying, death and grief. In return, you'll join a welcoming, values-led organisation where you'll play an important role in supporting our people and strengthening our workplace culture.

As an employee of St Nicholas Hospice Care you would receive the following benefits:

  • A Health Cash Plan & Wellbeing programme (dentistry, optical, emotional wellbeing support)
  • 25 days annual leave increasing to 29 with service (pro-rata for part-time employees)
  • Enhanced Occupational sick pay scheme
  • Home-made meals available in our onsite bistro
  • Access to a group pension plan or continuation of NHS Pension (subject to criteria)
  • Access to Blue Light Card scheme discounts
