St Mary's Catholic College Gateshead is seeking a Temporary Part Time (8 hours per week on a Wednesday 7am - 3:30pm) Grounds person to join the team from 10 June 2026 – 27 January 2027. St Mary's Catholic College, Gateshead, is a co-educational year 7 to 12 College founded in the finest tradition of the Josephite sisters. It is recognised and acclaimed as a safe, disciplined, welcoming and caring community. The Grounds person, under the direction of the principal, contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the schools’ grounds. The Grounds person will be required to support the school with (including but not limited to) building and grounds maintenance, cleaning and opening/closing the school premises.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school
- Demonstrated experience performing maintenance tasks unsupervised
- Demonstrated ability to manage the school's maintenance program
- Experience in managing and maintaining school grounds and buildings or similar experience
- Experience or willingness to comply with relevant security provisions
- Demonstrated understanding of current Work Health and Safety requirements
Qualifications
- Certificate III or Trade Certificate in relevant field (desirable)
- Current paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
