St Nicholas Catholic High School is looking to appoint an experienced and committed professional to join our Safeguarding Team. Under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead, this post will work closely with parents, carers and school staff to enhance the support available to our most vulnerable students to ensure that they overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will possess resilience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues and multi-agency partners to safeguard our students' welfare. The role will include acting as the deputy safeguarding lead (DSL) when the DSL is offsite and representing the school at Child Protection and safeguarding meetings. You will also need to plan and deliver programmes of support to further student confidence, progress and attainment. Previous experience of working with children and young people is essential, ideally in a similar role within an education setting.

This is a permanent contract, based on 35 hours per week over 41 weeks per year (Term-time plus INSET Days and 2 weeks in August), and includes 26 days holidays (plus bank holidays) increasing to 31 after 5 years' service.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead and act as deputy when the DSL is unavailable.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, school staff and external multi-agency partners to safeguard students.
  • Plan and deliver safeguarding/welfare programmes to improve student confidence, progress and attainment.
  • Demonstrate resilience and strong interpersonal skills in a safeguarding context.
  • Engage in safeguarding meetings and contribute to case discussions as required.
  • Proactively support vulnerable students to overcome barriers to learning.
