Fixed-Term, Consultancy or Project-Based Opportunity (6 months)

Location: Somerdale Pavilion, Keynsham (with travel across St Monica Trust sites)

Help shape a new model for community health. At St Monica Trust, we're reimagining how people stay active, healthy and independent as they age. We're developing an innovative Health & Wellbeing Hub model that brings together prevention, rehabilitation, fitness and community support in a way that is both impactful and financially sustainable.

We're looking for an experienced commercial professional to join us on a flexible basis, whether as a fixed-term employee, consultant or project specialist, to help shape this opportunity from the ground up. This isn't a role where all the answers already exist. We're looking for someone who is excited by the challenge of building something new, who can bring fresh thinking, commercial expertise and proven experience to help us test assumptions, define the right model and build the business case for future investment.

You'll play a critical role in helping us answer some fundamental questions:

  • What should the Health Hub offer look like?
  • Who is it for?
  • What delivery model will create the greatest impact?
  • How can it become commercially sustainable?
  • What evidence do we need to secure investment and support future growth?

This is an opportunity to influence strategy, shape direction and leave a legacy on a potentially transformative programme.

This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. Working closely with the Centre of Innovation and key stakeholders across the Trust, you'll act as both a commercial lead and trusted advisor, bringing insight, challenge and practical expertise to the development of our Health & Wellbeing Hub concept. You'll help us move from ambition to evidence, creating the commercial foundations that will determine whether and how the model progresses.

Success won't simply be about delivering a pilot. It will be about helping us understand what works, what doesn't, and what is required to create a sustainable and scalable proposition.

What success in this role looks like:

  • Building the strategy and plan to launching a fully operational Health Hub pilot within 6 months
  • Building a commercially viable model with clear revenue streams
  • Demonstrating strong customer demand and engagement
  • Creating a scalable blueprint for rollout across future sites

What you’ll be doing:

  • Understanding demand & insight
  • Identify who this offer is for, from residents to the wider community
  • Test needs, behaviours and willingness to pay
  • Build a clear customer segmentation and demand story
  • Designing the offer
  • Shape a compelling health & wellbeing proposition (e.g. physio, rehab, fitness, prevention programmes)
  • Balance customer need, clinical credibility and commercial viability
  • Explore partnerships with external providers
  • Building the commercial model
  • Develop pricing, revenue streams and service mix
  • Explore delivery options (private pay, partnerships, commissioned services)
  • Create a financially viable, scalable model
  • Piloting & testing in the real world
  • Launch Somerdale Pavilion as a live “test and learn” environment
  • Iterate quickly using real user feedback
  • Adjust the offer in real time
  • Turning insight into investment
  • Build a compelling business case
  • Recommend how the model scales across future sites
  • Shape the roadmap for expansion

Why this opportunity is different:

Many roles ask you to deliver against an established plan. This opportunity asks you to help create the plan. You'll have the chance to:

  • Shape a new strategic growth opportunity for St Monica Trust
  • Influence how health and wellbeing services are developed in local communities
  • Bring your expertise, insight and external perspective into the design of the model
  • Test innovative ideas in a live environment
  • Develop the commercial case that could unlock future investment
  • Help determine what the future of the Health Hub programme looks like

Whether you join us as a consultant, interim specialist or fixed-term employee, you'll play a key role in defining something entirely new.

Who this role will suit:

We're particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience of:

  • Developing new ventures, services, propositions or business models
  • Commercialising innovative concepts
  • Building business cases and investment propositions
  • Leading discovery, pilot or proof-of-concept programmes
  • Working as a consultant, interim leader or specialist project professional
  • Operating effectively in environments where the route forward is not yet fully defined

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who will bring:

  • Experience in health, wellbeing, fitness, rehabilitation, nutrition or preventative health settings
  • Strong commercial judgement
  • Independent thinking and constructive challenge
  • Curiosity and creativity
  • The ability to translate ideas into viable business models
  • Confidence influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • A passion for building something meaningful from the ground up
