Overview
We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our incredible team on a permanent basis. Based in the village of Bartestree, approximately 5 miles east of Hereford city, St Michael\’s Hospice has been providing high-quality care to the local community for over 35 years. At St Michael\’s we are not just offering a job, but the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives. You will work within our multi-disciplinary team providing physical, psycho-social and spiritual care to patients and their families. You will be able to organise your own time effectively, adapt to changing demands and conditions, remain calm under pressure, and communicate in a clear and engaging manner. We offer support with revalidation and ongoing CPD through both in-house and external education. Range of flexible and part-time working patterns. This post is conditional to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
Working in the In Patient Unit you will have the option of applying for one of the following set shifts permanently or going on a rota which will include a mixture of all: Long days: 7.30am – 8:00pm; Nights: 7:30pm – 8:00am; Earlies: 7:30am – 3:00pm; Twilights: 4:00pm – 10:00pm.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients, ensuring all practices are evidence-based.
- Provide specialist advice on symptom management and act as a link nurse in specific areas such as diabetes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients and their families.
- Communicate sensitively with patients, families, and carers, providing emotional support where needed.
- Supervise and mentor healthcare assistants, junior staff, and volunteers, promoting best practices in palliative care.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service development projects to enhance care delivery.
- Ensure a safe, clean environment, adhering to health and safety, infection control, and medication management protocols.
