Help lead our shops and make a real difference in supporting hospice care. Join our retail team as a Volunteer Shop Supervisor and play a key role in the smooth running of one of our high street shops. Supporting the Shop Manager and fellow volunteers, you’ll help create a welcoming environment for customers while contributing to vital fundraising.
About the Role
Our shops are an important part of St Michael’s Hospice, raising funds to support the care we provide. As a Volunteer Shop Supervisor, you’ll support the day to day running of the shop, help guide other volunteers, and take responsibility for the shop when the manager is not on site.
Location
St Michael’s Hospice retail shops across Hastings, St Leonards, Bexhill and surrounding areas.
Availability
- Days: Weekdays and weekends (depending on shop needs)
- Shifts: Half day shifts
- Commitment: Minimum one shift per week
Applicants must be aged 18 or over to apply for this role. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required before you can start volunteering. References will also be required as part of the application process.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the day to day running of the shop
- Opening and closing the shop when required
- Supervising and supporting other volunteers
- Delivering a friendly and professional customer experience
- Sorting, pricing, and displaying donated stock
- Using the till and handling payments
- Keeping the shop clean, safe, and well presented

- A friendly and approachable manner
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Ability to use initiative and work independently
- Previous retail experience is helpful but not essential.
