Head Receptionist – St Mawes
A new chapter in informal luxury hospitality is coming to St Mawes. This exciting new hotel will bring 56 beautifully designed bedrooms, a vibrant café, and a relaxing spa experience to one of Cornwall’s most sought-after coastal destinations.
As Head Receptionist, you’ll play a key role in shaping the guest experience from the moment someone walks through the door. You’ll lead the day-to-day Reception operation, support and develop the team, and make sure every guest receives a warm, seamless and memorable welcome.
What you will be doing
- Leading the daily Reception operation and supporting smooth shift handovers.
- Welcoming guests and overseeing arrivals and departures.
- Supporting the Reception team and leading from the desk during busy periods.
- Handling guest enquiries, requests and feedback with confidence and care.
- Working closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance to make sure the guest journey runs smoothly.
- Maintaining accurate guest, booking and billing information.
- Supporting rotas, training and the development of the Reception team.
- Ensuring high standards of presentation throughout Reception and guest-facing areas.
- Looking for opportunities to personalise the guest experience and create memorable moments.
What we are looking for
You’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys looking after people and creating a great first impression.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous hotel Reception or Front Office experience.
- Some supervisory or team-leading experience.
- Strong guest service and communication skills.
- Confidence using hotel booking or property management systems.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- The ability to remain calm and positive during busy periods.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A flexible approach to working early shifts, late shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
- Experience within a boutique, luxury or lifestyle hotel would be an advantage, as would previous pre-opening experience.
