St Matthew’s Primary and Nursery Academy, Derriford
Contract Term: Permanent – Full Time (part time may be considered for the right candidate)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday. Working patterns include an 8 am start and/or a 4:30 pm finish to cover full nursery opening hours.
Salary: Grade SC2 NJC points 4–7. Actual salary £19,743 (FTE £26,016). Term Time Only: 39 weeks per annum. Annual Leave: Taken outside of term time and paid pro-rata throughout the year (no leave during term time).

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide quality care, fun and education in line with the EYFS framework.
- Create a safe and stimulating environment for children.
- Adhere to all health & safety requirements.
- Support the Early Years Leader in curriculum planning and delivery.
- Communicate effectively with children and parents.
- Promote safeguarding and welfare of all children.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children aged 3‑5 years in a similar setting.
- Recognised childcare qualification: NNEB, NVQ3 or EYPS (or willing to work towards EYPS).
- Approachable, enthusiastic, patient, calm demeanour.
- Strong communication skills with children and parents.
