Overview

The Research Associate will work on a funded project examining how diagnostic language influences professional judgement in health and social care contexts. The study uses an online vignette-based experimental design to investigate how professionals interpret behaviour in scenarios involving people with severe–profound intellectual disabilities (sometimes described as having extensive or pervasive support needs). The postholder will support participant recruitment, manage data collection using the Gorilla platform, conduct statistical analyses, and contribute to qualitative analysis of open-text responses. The role will also involve contributing to written research outputs and dissemination activities.

We are seeking a proactive and organised researcher with a background in psychology or a related discipline. A key responsibility will be developing and implementing effective recruitment strategies to engage health and social care professionals across the UK. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of quantitative research methods, confidence working with data, and the ability to contribute to the design, conduct, and write-up of research projects. They will be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.
