St Mary’s University is seeking an exceptional clinical academic to join our School of Medicine as Head of Professional Practice & Development. This is a senior leadership role with a unique opportunity to shape the professional values, behaviours, and standards of future doctors within an expanding and ambitious medical programme.
About The Role
Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Medicine, you will lead the design, delivery, and continuous development of Professional Values and Behaviours (PVB) across the MBBS programme. You will oversee the training and development of clinical educators, and any performance concerns arising from clinical educators and students.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership of professional practice education for the School of Medicine
- Oversee curriculum design, teaching delivery, and assessment of PVB across both Phases 1 and 2.
- Lead on student conduct, professionalism, and fitness to practise concerns
- Develop and deliver training for clinical educators across campus and placements
- Lead on concerns arising from clinical educator performance or fitness to practise
- Chair relevant governance groups and contribute to School-wide strategy
About You
We are looking for an experienced and inspiring senior clinician with a passion for medical education and professionalism ready to join a dynamic and forward thinking team.
Requirements
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice, on the specialist or GP register
- Significant clinical experience and in a current NHS role
- A proven track record of leadership and innovation in medical education
- Extensive experience in teaching, assessment, and curriculum development
- Good understanding of professionalism, conduct, and fitness to practise
- Significant experience in the development and delivery of training for clinical educators
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
