The School of Medicine opens in September 2026 as one of the UK’s first socially accountable medical schools, dedicated to tackling health inequalities and serving diverse communities.

We are seeking a dynamic Medical Student Experience Manager who will play a central role in supporting the academic journey and wellbeing of students at St Mary’s University School of Medicine. They will lead on the coordination and delivery of high-quality education and student support across the School of Medicine, overseeing education management and student support, performance and conduct. They will work collaboratively with academic and professional services staff across the School of Medicine team and the wider university to help support and enable the success of our Medicine students during their time at St Mary’s.

Main duties of the role will include:

  • Supporting student performance, health and conduct through working with the Head of Medical Student Experience where student concerns regarding behaviour, health, or professionalism are raised and coordinating early interventions.
  • Supporting student assessment and records management such as managing digital processes for assessments and marking procedures, and the return of feedback and marks via the VLE and ePortfolio platform.
  • Student support management – maintaining clear communications with faculty liaising with Registry, overseeing student applications for Extenuating Circumstances, and ensuring students receive timely support.
  • Assist the Head of Medical Student Experience in building external connections with local, national and international medical schools to support a community engaged medical education curriculum and opportunities for student development.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in relation to all aspects of faculty programme delivery and student administration, including but not limited to data protection regulations, consumer protection legislation and OfS regulation.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Significant experience in higher education management and expertise in the operational management of undergraduate or postgraduate medical education programmes.
  • Experience of line management.
  • Knowledge of medical education in the UK and recent issues influencing its development.
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of using a range of software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to analyse, interpret and communicate complex information effectively.
  • The ability to maintain strong working relationships with academic schools and service departments, both internally and externally within the sector.
