Are you a patient, empathetic and proactive individual looking for a rewarding role in a truly collaborative environment? St Mary's Island CE (Aided) Primary School with Nursery is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team.

We are a warm, ambitious and highly regarded three-form entry primary school with a nursery, uniquely sharing our premises with the local St Mary's Island Church. About the Role:

Working under the direct instruction and guidance of teaching staff and the Leadership Team, you will provide robust support for teaching and learning. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting class teachers with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities to ensure the classroom environment is prepared, safe and stimulating.
  • Helping to raise standards of achievement for all pupils and encouraging them to take responsibility for their own independent learning.
  • Supporting the inclusion of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Using effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy to contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing accurate, constructive and timely feedback to both the pupil and the class teacher.

We will consider applicants looking for full time and part time hours (please note the role is for 38 weeks per year).

About You:

To flourish in this role, you will need a calm demeanour and the ability to build effective working relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues. We are looking for a candidate who brings:

  • An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • A good standard of general education, including GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
  • Experience working with or caring for children of primary school age.
  • Strong verbal communication and organisational skills, alongside digital literacy.
  • An absolute commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
