The Dementia Activity Coordinator is a key member of the dementia team that will support the development, planning, coordination and delivery of our diverse dementia friendly day sessions. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a passion for improving the quality of life and experiences of those living with dementia and their family caregivers.

Main duties of the job:

  • Work within the dementia service as part of the Compassionate Community Team.
  • Travel within the St. Marys Hospice geographic area and understand the unique needs of each community.
  • Deliver specialist, therapeutic activity to enable and empower people living with dementia at different stages of their lifespan, and from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Utilise community assets and embrace integrated working practices to provide a high-quality, sustainable service focusing on developing skills, knowledge and social networks.
  • Engage with individuals on a physical, psychological, spiritual and emotional level.
  • Undertake a range of Activity Coordinator tasks and administrative duties, accountable to the Admiral Nurse.

St Marys Hospice provides care and comfort for patients living with any life shortening illness or long-term condition and their family. We support people from the moment of diagnosis and their families for longer.

Job responsibilities:

  • Dementia Activity Coordinator, 30 hours per week (Tuesday - Friday).
  • Looking for an experienced and creative Activity Coordinator or Health Care Assistant dedicated to providing meaningful, person-centred activity to people living with dementia and their caregivers.
  • Must be a skilled communicator, passionate about palliative and dementia care, and feel confident using IT.
  • This is a site-based role with a small amount of possible home working.
