Job Summary

Furniture Warehouse Operative / Driver role at St. Mary's Hospice. You will collect donations, organise deliveries, support customers, assist with the showroom, operate the till system, and help maintain a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect donated furniture and items and safely lift, carry and move them.
  • Deliver donations to community members and customers, representing the Hospice with courtesy and confidence.
  • Serve customers at the till and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist volunteers and support warehouse operations, including merchandising the showroom.
  • Operate the till system, assist with Gift Aid and maintain accurate sales records.
  • Prepare stock for sale and help with bereavement house clearances when required.
  • Ensure vehicle checks are completed, health and safety requirements are met, and all paperwork is accurate and on time.
  • Work in a physically demanding environment and roll up sleeves to help wherever needed.

Qualifications

  • Full driving licence and confident, responsible driving experience.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
  • Strong organisational and reliable work ethic.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Empathy and sensitivity in handling bereavement sorting when required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
